A Progressive Who Gets Things Done
As Mayor of Berkeley, Kate's priorities include:
Expanding funding for and building affordable housing for our seniors, youth, families and workforce
Stemming displacement through enhanced tenant protections
Demanding corporations, U.C. and developers pay their fair share for public services
Accelerating Berkeley's goal of reducing GHG emissions while promoting climate equity
Creating good paying jobs, expanding local labor protections and supporting small businesses
Providing effective mental health, public health and homeless services
Advancing public safety for all through fire management and giving police the tools to focus on crime
Saving Alta Bates: keep our emergency room in Berkeley
Fixing our roads and expanding green spaces and parks
Ensuring safety for pedestrians and cyclists
Increasing government accountability by promising only what we can do and delivering on that promise
Centering racial and economic equity in funding and policies

A Progressive Who Gets Things Done
"I’m running for Mayor because I believe in a Berkeley that inspires the rest of the country to take action — on affordable housing, climate solutions, public safety for all, improving transit and mobility, and expanding green spaces and parks for the enjoyment of our whole community.
Designing effective progressive policies for our next set of challenges doesn’t just happen, though. It requires hard work, a commitment to advancing policies and the experience to know how to deliver real results. I have done all of that as a City Councilwoman and it's what I'll do as your next Mayor. I ask for your support."
