Kate believes we must work for increased transparency, especially around special interest groups. We need to know who is funding our candidates and who our lobbyists are. She authored the law requiring lobbyists to register and slowing the revolving door on previous City employees serving as lobbyists. This critical step takes the City further toward freeing itself from the corrupting influence of special interests.
Kate pays keen attention to the details of how our city works. She has proposed many reforms to our budgeting system, including funding our reserves and capital needs as first priorities and contracting for an independent audit of city revenues.
